Filthy beach, stay away from this place,I can't believe that they have let it go tbis badly

I would rate this place below acceptable

We truly enjoyed our cabin stay and the lovely park excursions. Don, our Game and Parks contact, was very friendly and offered many wonderful suggestions though out the trip.

The fishing was good, we caught a lot of crappie, bluegill, bass, and "a" perch. We were hopeful for some larger fish, but not the right time. We will definitely be back, it's a great location that's worth the drive!!

Talked with a couple of locals today about why the campgrounds were not very busy. I was told visitors have dropped off dramatically the past couple years due to algae plugging the lake caused by hog confinement runoff of pig sewage into the lakes. None of the locals wanted to get lake water on then, let alone swim or fish in the lakes or river in the area. The beach and area surrounding the lake is heavily covered in goose poop should you want to walk near the lake.

Where is the maintenance crew.

I love this place! Great hiking trails as well as paved trails for walking and biking.

There's a few very nice trails, including a round-trip of the lake. I have never stayed at the campgrounds, but they look nice--mostly campers and motorhomes there. Did some fishing this summer from our kayaks, and that was nice as well. A small beach, a boat ramp, some bridges and spillways. Just a nice place to go for a day of boating (electric motors only), fishing, kayaking, or casual hiking. There are even some bike trails, though not as extensive as hiking trails.

The cabin far exceeded our expectations for $75 a night; the park was beautiful and well maintained. We especially loved the hiking trails around the lower lake; but make sure you start on on the right, and keep the lake to your left... there are a lot of steps, but worth it. It's about 4 miles all the way around!
